AES believes Art is part of the critical foundation in a child's learning. We strive to foster a creativity-based environment where students are provided the opportunities and skill sets to express individual and collaborative meanings of the world around them.

Art is limitless and extends beyond one subject. Students at AES will make connections between visual arts and other disciplines, from history and math to science and nature.

Geometry Through Art

Students will learn to identify shapes and sizes. They'll classify shapes, distinguishing 3-D vs. 2-D. Students will then take what they've learned and display it through a variety of artistic methods.

History Through Art

History is all around us, including through various pieces of art. Students will learn to explore contexts of exemplary artwork and express how, when and where we live affects the art we make.

Social Studies Through Art

Art changes through history. The Art of today is far different from the Art of early civilizations. Students will be able to identify artwork from different cultures, times and places.

Vocabulary Through Art

Art not only teaches about styles, colors and
techniques, but also about vocabulary. Students will learn vocabulary to speak about artwork, giving them the tools necessary to discuss forms of art and the main ideas behind them.

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to
remain an artist once we grow up."

- Pablo Picasso
